End of the World Destinations
So if we are interpreting the Mayans correctly and presuming they are right, the world, as we know it, will end today. But I’m sure many of us are not spending the last few moments anywhere else but in work. However if we really did believe the world was about to end where would we want to be? So I have made a list of some of the most unusual and beautiful places on Earth that I want visit. If the World ever ended, your last seconds would be well spent in these incredible spots.
The Cave of Crystals is 300 metres below the surface in Naica, Chihuahua, Mexico. The main chamber is filled with selenite crystals, which pierce through the onyx darkness in beams of ghostly white.
Wisteria Tunnel is sequestered in the Kawachi Fuji Gardens in Kitakyushu, Japan. Dark wine coloured and violet flowers hang on the curving ceiling and the tunnel is a whirl of iridescent fragrant blooms.
The aptly named Crooked Forest sits just outside of Nowe Czarnowo, West Pomerania, Poland. The thicket contains about 400 pines trees with warped trunks bending in a sharp curve. They were planted in 1939 but why, who or what made them twisted in unknown.
A night in the Magic Mountain is like wandering into an ethereal alien world, reminiscent of a kingdom from The Lord of Rings. It’s located in Huilo Huilo, a private Natural Reserve in the Los Rios region of Chile.
Swimming into the depths of the world’s largest coral reef system is one way I would like to spend my last few moments. It’s located in the Coral Sea, off the coast of Queensland, Australia. You can see this prismatic water garden from outer space.
